Grim Rhythm – Forever Eating Shit album review by Mark. J. No vocals, no bullshit, just riffs that snarl and swagger hard enough to make you smash bottles without thinking!!!
Grim Rhythm – Forever Eating Shit (Melbourne instrumental dirty rock, Suspect Records)
Eight fucking years of silence and these Melbourne cult weirdos come back swinging with a twenty-two-minute riff apocalypse called Forever Eating Shit. It kicks off with “Open Fire,” pure greasy overdriven guitars chugging like a V8 on fire in a back alley – no vocals, no bullshit, just riffs that snarl and swagger hard enough to make you smash bottles without thinking. Then “Guns” and “Grease Money” hit in quick succession, short, vicious blasts of dirty rock energy with storming drums and chugging grooves that feel like they were born in a smoke-choked rehearsal room at 3am. The whole thing’s recorded DIY by guitarist Tim Maxwell at Wrangler Studios, tight as hell but loose enough to bleed danger.
“Chevaline” is this one-minute knife to the throat of a track that barely gives you time to breathe before the title cut “Forever Eating Shit” grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go – that swaggering, mean-as-fuck groove that sums up years of underground grinding. The rest of the eight-track beast just keeps the momentum rolling: ripping solos, boogie-heavy riffs, and this raw, independent fire that doesn’t chase trends or soften anything. It’s all guitar currency – heavy metal, hard-rocking filth that treats every note like it owes you nothing.
No singer needed when the guitars are this pissed off and alive. This is the dirty religion for anyone who wants rock ugly, loud, and zero filler – the kind of album that makes your neighbours call the cops and your mates headbang in the pit. Grim Rhythm didn’t come to play nice; they came to make you eat shit forever and love it. Crank it till the speakers bleed. 9/10 smashed bottles.
