FANTASTIC INTERVIEW WITH STEVE FROM INTERNATIONAL METAL DEMIGODS BULLETBELT. DON'T MISS THE AUSSIE TOUR!! At the end of this month, New Zealand's metal demigods BULLETBELT hit our shores for three exclusive dates. These kings hit their 15th year anniversary this November and have toured Europe and Japan previously as well as incredible tour supports for DRI, Sacred Reich, Arch Enemy, Toxic Holocaust, Midnight, Municipal Waste and Ross the Boss( The Dictators/Manowar)to name a few. On the eve of this tour and many future dates, I had the pleasure of having a long and solid chat with the OG founding member, BulletBelt's drummer and head honcho, Steve. We chatted about: -the legacy of this classic band -the importance of not being pigeonholed by a genre -looking at the journey that is their latest opus,  Burn It Up  -the variety of tracks on this record and the importance of track selection and sequence -how flow and story are important to albums, and how we looked forward...

EYEHATEGOD/GOATWHORE/CHOOF GIG REVIEW 26TH JULY MELBOURNE-FFO: GLORIOUS UNDERGROUND MUSIC AT IT'S FINEST. SHITE WORDS BY MARK J. PHENOMENAL PHOTOS BY DAN MCKAY. The anticipation around this gig was massive and for valid reasons; two massive but different bands from the same region, but both committed to the power of the dirty riff. Add some local yobbos by the name of Choof in the mix and you have a top-notch night of epic heaviness. CHOOF: Choof, (or as Mike IX called them (Le)Chouf ) are local legends and always deliver a wild performance with their mix of power-violence and sludgy hardcore mixed with tons of booze and entertaining abuse thrown at both the crowd and each other. Choof is a mix of all your obscure weirdo underground Ep's and pure self-abuse. And it works a treat, despite the fact the band is a bunch of alcoholics or mentally unstable or both(more power to them I say!) they are superb musicians. Choof always plays tight as hell, they have exceptional songs wi...

Blazing hot reviews: Celestrial Oath, Snake Mountain, Defiant Ground, Werewolves and Iniquitous Monolith

Blazing hot reviews: Celestrial Oath, Snake Mountain, Defiant Ground, Werewolves and Iniquitous Monolith Celestrial Oath-House of Chains. This is exactly what the cover art hints at stoner/doom metal riffing out heavily. Nothing super original here, but hey that's the whole genre bar a few bands. All of this is nasty, distorted stoner metal wigging out big time. Live 3/4 of the tracks here would entertain a crowd easily; still, the best moments are when they really get more unhinged vocally and man, they can harmonize and get real growling equally, but the instrumental opener as a non-stoner was not for me; just went nowhere. But the final three tracks show promise and got my head nodding-as much psych as old-school doom metal. For a debut, this gives a solid impression of what the future holds for the band, with some trimming and refining you will get a band joining the ranks of solid doom/stoner/sludge bands in Australia. In fact, the non-ep track Star Grave that dropped in M...
