Devil's Horns loves putting the spotlight on new bands. Protospasm is one band we love. Heavy and driving punk with solid hardcore and metal undertones. In a short time this band has got top gigs and accolades because they are extremely talented!.

Here's a cool interview we did with this Hellburn force.

1- Could give me a brief history of your band, it’s name and what releases you have?
Nick, Danni and Dinie started jamming at Danni’s house just over a year ago, and when Brad (bass) came on in September we had a proper band. Had our first gig at the Brunny in mid January and gigs have been pretty regular since then.
The name involved about 3000 Facebook messages back and forth. Danni was into a quote from Ren and Stimpy which involved protoplasm, Dinie added on the spasm and we all said yes… Hurrah!

2- What drew you to hardcore/punk/metal (etc) and what is it such a rewarding and sustaining genre of music to you?
The four of us have diverse musical tastes, and hardcore/punk and metal seemed to be the common thread. We all enjoy fast, heavy and passionate music and its really fun! For us thats what keeps us going, the simple pleasure of getting together with your mates and rocking out.

3- Devil’s Horns firmly believes that music and art is the best crossover in the universe , how does that work for you as a band?
As stated in the above question, we just love to cut sick and rock out. Ay.
4- Live how does your music translate?, do you have a message or what rewards you?
We’d like to think that our live set reflects our love of cutting sick and rocking out. Its also pretty rewarding when others enjoy it s much as we do.

5- Any upcoming releases you would like to tell us about?
Yes. Yes we do. We just recorded an EP and are just sorting out the final bits required to release the thing - such as artwork. All of the band love the physicality of vinyl and are trying to find somewhere to press it. We’ll have a bandcamp page up as soon as we get the 5 songs we’ve recorded mastered.

6- What are the highlights for you as a band so far?
Getting together regularly has been a constant highlight for us. Bonding as a unit and writing tunes together has been awesome!

7- On the flipside, the struggles and challenges?
Aside from the trivial day to day shit that all of us have to deal with, the hardest struggle we’ve had as a band has been coming up with a name.

8- Any favorite current artists or particular albums you have on rotation?
We’re gonna subvert this question by listing who we’ve enjoyed playing with or seeing recently. Tsugnarly were awesome to discover, Coffin Wolf are killing it at the moment, I Am Duckeye are sick! The FckUps are always a force to be reckoned with. Hailgun playing a bad set is still better than most things you’ve ever heard.

9- What are the future plans for you?
We’re looking forward to getting our first EP out, touring and cutting sick all up in your earholes!

10- Any final words or messages?
Cut sick and choose your time to be a cunt wisely...!
Their ep is still to drop and we can't wait.
Here's some great, yet brief live footage:
