“Martyrs” runs seven minutes and is about manipulation, manufactured belief and the slow erosion of independent thought, set against the constant flood of information in modern life. It’s the first new music from the Australian prog/metal/noise outfit on my desk since their Birds Robe debut.

And it is one of the most chilling, grim and earthquake-heavy tracks of the year from one of Australia's most original and genre-diverse bands ever. And about as on-trend as a serial killer!!!

That fucking wild and intelligent-yet heavy as hell 2023 self-titled EP came from a project spun out of Mish, with Devin Townsend, Mastodon and Conjurer cited as touchstones. But this is utterly a band moving forward and pushing boundaries.

A seven-minute single is a statement of intent: this band would rather build a piece than chase a hook, and the subject matter suits the length.
