Orbyssmal-Execration album review. FFO: Extreme, experimental black metal noise.

Orbyssmal-Execration album review. FFO: Extreme, experimental black metal noise.  Is this Australia's most brutal and most extreme metal band-absolutely!. In a short time, like less than 2 years this barbaric and deeply brutish band has delivered nine solid releases and all are unhinged and deranged works of extreme metal greatness. This act always delivers and destroys all your senses. Thanks for messing with my head again, this is brutal beautiful audio insanity. As previously Orbyssmal is a mix of raw black metal and completely experimental insane noise. Call these fuckers avant-garde, but at the end of the day this is wild, harsh and off the chain metal that pushes the boundaries to the utter limit. Opener Segment misleads you into thinking it may be a slightly more relaxed album, but alas this is one of their best releases and also their most experimental. The eight tracks that follow this are all unique and simply unbalanced art at its finest. Everything sounds like it...

Crypt Crawler-Future Usurper album review. FFO: Seismic Death Metal Perfection.

Crypt Crawler-Future Usurper album review. FFO: Seismic Death Metal Perfection. And to think I was thinking, oh no another generic Death Metal album that mimics the greats and is unoriginal. No fucking way, this is a killer release that deserves attention worldwide. This album has it all; deep moody tone, brutal riffs and clever songwriting. And it successful tears the flesh from your skull! and is as hectic as the amazing cover art. Future Usurper is indeed an Old School Death Metal band that tips its hat towards both Florida and Swedish Death Metal. But its delivery is rightly grandiose and not overblown. Most tracks are over 4 minutes, but all are worth your listening time. The balance of ghoulish atmosphere and pure hellish gut punches is quite remarkable for a sophomore release. And this definitely builds on the fine debut To The Grave and whilst the mixing/masterful has not changed hands, it all sounds richer and more violent. Rather than do a track by track breakdown, I im...

The Owen Guns - Electric Boogaloo EP Review. FFO: Old school punk at its finest!!.

The Owen Guns - Electric Boogaloo EP Review. FFO: Old school punk at its finest!!. Finally a straight-up punk band with no pretentious bullshit. I might be an old punk bastard, but I know what I like. Trends (and the same rules apply for hardcore and metal bands) hold very little sway compared to the greats of each genre and The Owen Guns play classic punk/hardcore that doesn't piss about. Many songs are definitely throwbacks to great bands like U.K. Subs, Stiff Little Fingers, Cocksparrer and Cockney Rejects, but also with the piss-taking wit of the Cosmic Psychos. I just wish I discovered this band before this EP because every track is dynamic, catchy and angry(yet sarcastic humour dominates!). Ep2 Electric Boogaloo has seven tracks of angry punk glory including a surprisingly great Hard-Ons cover. There is a decent amount of savage hardcore riffs underpinning most tracks and it is one killer EP that builds on 2020's Violating Community Standards.  Sick kicks proceedings...

Seum-Winterized album review. FFO: original, nasty and epic sludge from hell!!.

Seum-Winterized album review. FFO: original, nasty and epic sludge from hell!!. Montreal's amazing Seum has done it again and followed up some frankly epic audio products with the best release of their existence. Winterized is a weighty and grim exploration of multiple dramas for this band be it lockdown, loss of work or car accidents. This is a fuzzy masterpiece and crushes all the generic sludge bands to dust. If you are new to this formidable three-piece band, they creatively take stoner or doom metal to the hellish limits by having no guitar. Yes, that's correct. But however, the bassist plays bass better than some well-known metal guitarists play guitar and creates deep and grim magical tones. The drummer is equally as talented, with accurate tempo changes and precise technical skill combined with a grievously savage vocalist. This rare combination makes the band and in particular this album original as hell and drips in ambition. The record consists of seven cracking t...

Countime-No Apologies No Regrets Album review...Aggro Hoodcore at it's finest!!!

Countime-No Apologies No Regrets Album review.Aggressive Hoodcore at its finest!!!.  FFO: Hardcore with muscle aka Suicidal Tendencies/Agnostic Front/Death Before Dishonour/100 Demons. Countime has been kicking since 2003 and has always been an absolutely solid mix of straight-up hardcore mixed with West Coast flair and real-life street experience. They have had a solid metal influence in their overall sound and almost a hip hop sensibility as a result of being a true L.A. underground band. But more recently; in late 2019 the band gained the attention of Producer Billy Graziadei (Biohazard, BillyBio) and COUNTIME was offered the opportunity to join the European 2020 Persistence Tour and share the stage with the Gorilla Biscuits, Agnostic Front, H20, Street Dogs, Billy Bio, Wisdom in Chains, and Cut Throat L.A. After the tour was finished the Corona Pandemic Virus emerged and shut down all forms of life and entertainment as we knew it. COUNTIME used this time to focus on wor...

Eternal Struggle-Year of The Gun album review. FFO: Epic, crushing and classic hardcore.

Eternal Struggle-Year of The Gun album review. FFO: Epic, crushing, and classic hardcore like Sworn Enemy, All Out War, First Blood, and Biohazard etc. This month has been an incredible one for awesome releases and this release is just extraordinary. My main musical love is Hardcore, I make no qualms about that, and this album is just everything that makes hardcore so wonderful. Razor-sharp riffs, solid as hell bass/drums, and gritty vocal prowess. From front to back, this one of my favourite releases of the year. BIO: Born into the political heat and everyday challenges of life in the so-called ’holy land’. A system infiltrated with corruption, racism, mandatory army drafts, religious agenda, and a brutal militarized police force abusing their power and limiting basic human rights. Eternal Struggle is known for its aggressive and chaotic live performances as well as its strong ambition as a forward-thinking band, fusing elements from both worlds of Extreme Metal & Hardcore P...
