Dogz of War Interview, FFO:Straight Up Hardcore legends. Towards the end of last year, we reviewed this band's killer comeback album, Judgement and you still need it as it holds up well as a metallic hardcore classic. So we had a chance to finally interview this band and it was a cracker. It was a pleasure to chat with Enzo from this classic band, he was a genuine, down-to-earth man and was inspiring as hell!!! Enjoy!!!   Hey brothers, what made you come back after a long extended leave from the band? I mean this is a very solid and confident album? You must be pleased with the final product? Enzo- The album has been in the works for years, but between having families and full-time jobs, we just decided it was time and yes we are very pleased with how it all turned out!.   Do you feel this builds on the legacy of the first album?   Enzo- I believe it does, but even more so musically, we have improved a lot and I believe we have become more diverse over the yea...

Getting Wrecked By TedTalks And Ancient Greeks, A Get Rekt Album Analysis: By M H Thomson.

Getting Wrecked By TedTalks And Ancient Greeks, A Get Rekt Album Analysis: By M H Thomson. Get Rekt are a ferocious crossover/thrash metal outfit hailing from Geelong. They formed in 2019, just in time for a Wuhanese man to colossally botch his Ozzy Osbourne impersonation and bring the entire world grinding to a halt. Thus it has taken them until now to finally drop their debut full-length release Tales of 3D Fury. The following is my impression of the album, strap in folks, this one is a doozy:   Fool’s Gold:   The tune opens with one hell of a bang, the riff mid-tempo but a  slow burner. Vocalist Stu McInnes belting the opening verse coupled with Drummer Marko Soulis’ varying drum fills do most of the heavy lifting in terms of building anticipation, whilst the guitarists pack on the tension. The song then explodes into the typically thrashy, tremolo-picking-laden main riffs. Stu’s dry, raspy, and commanding vocal delivery hurtles itself ever forward draggin...

Brawler-Hard Truths EP. FFO: Nasty, Killer Beatdown. Wow, 1054 Records is firing hard over the last few years and this is another beast in their weapon cabinet. I really dig bands that mix up the metal with extreme hardcore so seamlessly. Especially when beatdown can be dull as hell, a bit like the mediocre sound of many hardcore bands from Australia, with a few exceptions. This is way better, NZ's hardstyle cunts settle all scores with this ripper of a release. Not sure of the band's history but there are exceptionally tight and the song structures are intelligent, whilst being as meatheady as we want from this genre. I want fat riffs and caveman moshy bits that destroy my ears and make me want to kick cunts in the face.  But there is heaps of variety in between the mad samples, brutal riffs and drums and vicious vocals, plus it has guest vox from XILE on the excellent Pay the Price , so quit complaining you dickheads. Talk is Cheap is as wild and the title track is super ...

Album Reviews: Persecutor, Fury of Five, Sleaford Mods, Dyoxidon...FFO: Quality music!!!

Album Reviews: Persecutor, Fury of Five, Sleaford Mods, Dyoxidon. FFO: Hardcore, UK Grimness(?) and Industrial extremity. You know the drill, straight up no bullshit reviews like the zines of old. No fancy writing, just straight-up facts. Four killer releases here, all bangers!!!. Persecutor-Babylon's Ashes EP. This is my fave EP of the year, the band has some killer people in it including Tyronne of the legendary band Rebirth fame. But this is a completely different style for him, this is unhinged and venous powerviolence in the style of Hatred Surge, Infest and the like; as rightfully so political as fuck. The energy is high, and the songs are all short and killer. All powerful tunes with brilliant lyrics and all sounds like the type of underground 7 inches distros like Spiral Objective would consistently drop. This is utterly necessary and mind-blowingly hectic, and one of the best Aussie Hardcore EP's in ages. Support them hard: https://persecutorpunx.bandcamp.com/album/...

Album reviews-Bong Coffin/Fever Shack/Honest Crooks...all sick releases!!!.

Album reviews-Bong Coffin/Fever Shack/Honest Crooks...all sick releases!!!. This is our blog's quick-fire, no-bullshit old-school reviews section. Enjoy!. BONG COFFIN-THE END BEYOND DOUBT ALBUM.  As expected by the rad front cover, this is brilliant stoner doom, that has Sabbathy usual stoner vibes, but with pleasing brutality. The drums are moody as fuck, and the bass was hectically suffocating. But on top of nasty riffs is really madly hectic vocals matched with a really bombastic production. The key here is this is trippy and dark but never, ever boring-rare for this genre tbh. This album is amazingly focused/precise for a debut, the loose bits are more of a groove style-which fits well and the pace and tempo changes were clever. Add some cool LOTR samples and you have a beast of a record. Faves: Messiah, Voidsight and Wasteland Winds. Out now and it is killer: https://bongcoffin.bandcamp.com/album/the-end-beyond-doubt FEVER SHACK-RAW DOGGIN REALITY. Album number two and ...

Kuntsquad Interview. FFO: Rowdy, Metal/Punk as Fuck Musos!!!

Image
Last week or so(tech issues with zee internets) this legendary band dropped their awesome debut album and I(Mark) interviewed them prior to the release date. This is a chunky, punky, honest and inspiring interview for the ages. As expected we gasbagged for over an hour and transcribing this would be a 13-page interview. We are giving you the whole audio interview and some highlights in written form below. Enjoy. Trust me the whole interview is worth your time; this is because they are excellent, down to earth humans who spoke genuinely about their incredible band. Some highlights-the KS crew spoke about the band's formation: Paula: ...the band was formed within 5 minutes on Facebook. I'd had a long break from playing and I'd been through the tragic death of my partner and I was like, I sort of had to get over that. And then it was like being ready to play now. I got my divorce and then I was like, Yes, now I'm ready to go. I was a band called Velvet Hammer back in th...

Munt-Pain Ouroboros EP Review and an interview. FFO: Sheer brutal masterpieces.

Munt-Pain Ouroboros EP Review and an interview. FFO: Sheer brutal masterpieces. Fuck me with a chainsaw this is glorious and insanely tech, yet blunt trauma glory. This band has refined its sound over time and is one of Australia's best extreme bands. This EP is gobsmackingly amazing and even though I have seen them live heaps and also played in bands supporting them; I wasn't remotely prepared for the abrasive brilliance of this release. This band is a must-see and this EP needs to be in your collection NOW!!!. Children of Delirium starts off with agonizing perfect cookie death metal monster vocals(that's high praise) that kick off this release so confidently. And wild blackened riffs destroy your ears in purely chaotic faultlessness. Munt is an utter sledgehammer to your face. And this doesn't ease up at all. The dissonant grimness is thick, suffocating and the epitome of all extreme bands. But alas, don't think of any rest period as The Vengeful March arrives...

Tongue Scum. Callously Formed. FFO: Insane grind/PV.

Tongue Scum. Callously Formed. FFO: Insane grind/PV. Fuck me dead, this is blistering intense grind/PV of the highest order. It also has some cool death metal vibes; but the theme is fast pace, hectic, well-written brutality. I think this is the best thing Sir Frank Grudge has ever done!!!. Add some sublime production from Luke at DangerTone studios and you have one of the best EPs of the year. Shit starts off maddened like Napalm Death on meth, the pace and attack of Shut Up and Listen is like straight chillies up your genitals. The main underlining riff is gripping and Frank's barking vocals combined with warlike drums give you an instant taste of this extreme release. Error in Lyf , has more expanse to its overall sound, but is super assaultive and deranged by both tempo and straight intensity levels. This great track also has an awesome dramatic ending I loved. Rivers of Scorn is THE track of this release, it has convincing death metal influence that meets PV straight on th...
