Benediction UK Death Metal legends interview with Daz and Scriptures album review.

Benediction UK Death Metal legends interview with Darren and Scriptures album review.

Benediction is a legendary Death Metal band from Birmingham, England that has been kicking arse since 1989. Always unrelenting in their riffs and intent, famous for not only being Barney Greenway's old band but more so for their own merits in classic albums like Subconscious Terror (1990) and
The Grand Leveller (1991) to name but two rippers. When I got the chance to chat to the top bloke that is Darren; who has been there since the band's inception, I jumped at the chance.

Daz was an utterly down to earth chap who is passionate about this band, he shared his thoughts on the new album, the band as a whole and even had some party tales about Lemmy. Quality chat enjoy!!!

Benediction-Scriptures album review.

FFO: Nasty and brutal Old School Death Metal, no mess, no fuss.

Old School Death Metal just has a massive edge over the modern artists that cannot be explained. There seems to be a raw swagger and tone that harks back to an era where this genre pushed far away from it's softer metal comrades and went for the throat.

Scriptures does exactly what the album art indicates: no reinventing of the genre-just hectic abrasive brutality that is completely in your face. And that is what we want-no trends, just meat and potatoes extreme metal. The album is 12 tracks of death metal gold that simply doesn't piss about. The sharp toned guitar work is pristine and clever. And matched like fine aged cheese with a classic red wine; you have fantastic bass and drum soldiers working perfectly together to defeat any musical battle. Then to add to this perfect mix, you have the return of vocal tornado Dave Ingram to the fold and it's like he never left. The insane pace of the album was fantastic, the production very deep in tone and my only criticism is the drums could be slightly louder but every track is a rager.

There is no sidetracks or weird moments of modernity. Just dynamic, intense death metal.
Fave tracks:
Iterations of I-a stellar opener, the pure insanity of Rabid Carnality and the classic We are Legion.
But any track is an angry, brain explosion of the finest quality.
