We should have a broad selection of music to dip in and out of. Me personally my fave genres are punk/hardcore and metal. But do I listen to these soundscapes strictly, no way!. I often listen to reggae, chillout music as well as indie pop. These differences inform and colour your musical world and the spaces between. I have to declare I adore this album. It is not trendy or one that aims to be cool. It simply is exceptional music that has overtones from mostly old style subgenres. And done extremely well by clever and skilled artists. The whole album is full of guitar wigouts and the nostalagic worship is done by people obviously utterly into the style. It's really fantastic to see bands embrace old genres and make them pop. There are jazzy moments, hard rock crackers and almost reflective free form musical gems all over this release. For a third album, there is tons of energy and huge depth for songs that are lengthy, but none are a waste of your time. This album feels like a live gig where you sit back and scream to yourself "how are they so damn talented and it just keeps getting better".
The non English singing is completely irrelevant because the album is full of a feel that just grooves along nicely and is epic in it's subtle, yet hooky approach. Here we have a album that develops more with each listen and one designed for quality speakers or headphones. Acoustics matter when the range and tone is just so spot on. Spinda records are dropping so many great releases and it will be cool to see the next gem they unleash-so much variety and accomplished acts coming out on this solid label.
So spin this album and give Acid Mess your time. Tripped out neo-psych gold with super skilled delivery.
