Ash interview with Rick on the eve of their latest Australian Tour.
What a classic band that has been kicking on for 30 years. Hard to believe, and it's damn impressive that they are still dropping sensational albums like the latest Race the Night. This has all the charm of the classic albums, with some added heavy focus mixed with the harmonic vocal gems they are known for. I was lucky enough to chat with their awesome drummer and all-around legend Rick on the eve of their current tour here.
We chatted about:
-how the industry has changed and now how it is less about the whole album for many artists/labels
-the highlights of their career so far
-how Ash similarly to Supergrass has a deeper and more comprehensive catalogue compared to some of their peers from back in the day
-how the new songs fit into the current set
-Race the Night; how it is a solid mix of past and present
-the killer artwork on the cover
-discuss various tracks from the release and chat about the expanded version with glorious acoustic versions and an epic long version of Like a God
- Rick's only solo musical works including Burned as Witches
-the band's love affair with Australia and how it changed since the early tours
and much more!!!
