Death by a 1000 Bullets: Incredible Mixed Releases: Used Goods, Demiser, Born of a Bastard King, Bleak Magician, and Wolfbrigade.

These are the dog bollocks, concise short reviews of shit you need to buy now. Got it, now read, buy and thank me later fuckface.
We have a blindingly awesome selection of releases here. Let's go and get into these bangers.

THESE ARE WICKED RELEASES!!! Like x5 of the best of the year!!!

Used Goods-Hey There Human. Yes, I know this punk classic dropped in May from the Southport Qld nutters, but it needs all your attention. This, Convict Class, and The Owen Guns are the best punk/Oi! bands in the country at the moment and these guys should play Rebellion,100%. These seven tracks are all late-night boozer/hooligan/yobbo anthems in the vein of Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Uk Subs, the Partisans/Abrasive Wheels mixed with Aussies Cosmic Psychos/X. Mark from the band does the best punk paper old-school zine around called the GC Bugle, msg him to buy copies asap-it's punk DIY gold. On to the banging music, it's all boozy, but clever punk rock that is well written and every track is a huge anthem. Seven tracks of poging glory my faves at the moment,Donahue, Caboose and I Like That. They have a fun rock edge to them I love and is super 80s in the best way. You need to see this band and harass them for a cd as this gem is only streaming atm. Support these punk demigods!!

Demiser-Slave to the Scythe. This is very much my fave metal release of the year, just flawless blackened thrash from South Carolina, unrelenting sick riffs and vocals and the best metal songwriting in years. This is very much classic raw metal in the style of Bathory, Venom, Celtic Frost plus some Mayhem and even Sodom/Motorhead. And in the homage to the mighty Lemmy, it's all balls out rocking banging anthems fuelled on whiskey and speed. Not a bad track on this awesome release but standouts today were the title track, Carbureted Speed, Total Demise and Hell is Full of Fire. Grab it now, it's epic.

Born of a Bastard king-Eviscerate. This killer EP will definitely be in my top 20 releases of the year. For a debut EP this has all the meaty stuff that any well-versed metal/hardcore heads will worship. These incredibly crafted six tracks are a solid mix of face-ripping OSDM meets groove metal and definitely it all has a hardcore foundation. Production is very much in your face but has that old-school death-metal charm about it. Raw, modern but crushing with tons of dark tones in every instrument as well as the grotesquely devastating vocal dominance.
Blood Poisoning is the go-to track, although every song is sensational. This one is so putrid in the way that Cannibal Corpse or Obituary is, thick, unflinching and layer upon layer of grit and death metal filth. Really stunning that a modern band that do this style with so much confidence and guile. Live this band is even more brutal, we need a full album of this depraved god-tier-level extreme metal.

Bleak Magician-How the Disappearance Appeared to Us. Now I have been blowing the trumpet today, because frankly as I have previously said-80% of the music that falls into our laps is utter shite. But the gems often blow your mind, such is the case with this classic post-punk/noise rock treasure. This ain't coming out until Dec; but as well as my deep love for mostly punk/hardcore/metal/alternative genres; this stoopid writer has a super love for oldish-sounding post-punk etc. This is unique, the production works in its favour because this reminds me of so many epic bands from decades back; be it Nick Cave in his Birthday Party costume or Alien Sex Fiend, The Cramps, Sonic Youth, Bauhaus, Christian Death, The Gun Club, even Magazine and Gang Of Four. Yes, the emotive tone and salubrious drip this record gives is phenomenal. One track may be brooding gothy post-punk with jangling riffs and morose vocals, then others have a nice amphetamine-driven wild pace at war with scathing and very acidic vocals. Often this is overlaid with wildly retro and cheap sound synthwork(my absolute favourite type of keys) and noisy affected instruments and vocals. Can I single out the main and fave tracks, nope. Because the whole 11 tracks work into an unhinged, demented and savage classic. Fuck the wankery of the Oasis brothers, this is way deeper and more seismic in a subtle and truly artistic manner by two proper musicians(who are brothers). Forget the bollocks of the year's best albums, this is one of the best albums I have heard in 15 years. Don't fuck about when this drops pre-order and support this wicked act.

Wolfbrigade-Life Knife Death. Yet again the D-beat punk masterclass drop another killer album. From the very beginning as Wolfpack, these legends have consistently dropped sintillating, energetic crusty D-Beat bangers since 1995. This hectic album is one of their best albums, utterly utilising the spirit and technique of both Discharge and Motorhead equally; so you know this will be a beast. The exquisite buildup and tension are slightly more focused on this release, I don't know the reason but it seems like this is a band eager to impress, ironically like some new band. The rawness and brutality are akin to a raw-edged demo and I adored that. Every track is brilliant, all knuckle-dragging D-Beat punk classics. Opener Ways to Die is a gnarly and gritty lunatic anthem, the same as the title track and definitely A Day In the Life of an Arse. The rock or stadium crust of Your God is a Corpse was stunning and the grim coarseness of Nail Bomb. As expected the drums and bass are warlike as fuck, the riffs are sharp and aggressive and Micke's oppressive vocals still bring down walls of nearby buildings.
A band with a near-flawless catalogue, Wolfbrigade's new classic is essential and outstanding.
