FULL OF HELL INTERVIEW WITH DYLAN WALKER BY MARK J. THIS IS A BRILLIANT AND SOLID INTERVIEW WITH ONE OF THE WORLD'S BEST BANDS.

Full of Hell is one of the most productive extreme music bands in the last 15 years. Their catalogue is flawless and anyone who has listened to or watched an interview with this band knows that they are passionate about their craft and genuine as fuck.

In August, they make their third visit to Australia and bring Thou here as a co-headliner(also that killer band's first visit here, yes it's a big deal) so I was rapt to have a long-form with their excellent singer and all-round awesome human being, Dylan.

Amongst many cavernous subjects we chatted about:
-how the band has managed to produce so many releases in a short period
-how being busy is all relative, especially once becoming a dad
-how Converge is the extreme music support network as well as being a benchmark for multitasking with life, projects, bands, work and parenthood

-the What would Neurosis/Converge Do statement
-why no ego and no bullshit is more of a factor than critical acclaim
-the new album, how it sits with the previous material and how it has more mid-tempo parts(at times)

-what the album is about and the magnificent influence of Brian Montuori in terms of artwork, inspiration and off-the-cuff writing about where you live and the issues present there
-some important lyrical insight and links to previous works and past friends, experiences, reflection and grief
-Central perspective of lyrics and their context, as well as stylistic changes over time
-the gravity of thought and effort applied to each area of a release
-how the band gives artists a freeflow licence to create brilliant art for their albums
-life and how it changes

-fantastic information about Dave's (FOH's drummer) grandfather's sculpture appearing on the back cover and Dave's own grief journey
-Brian's catalyst/creative suggestions for this release
-songcraft, including song titles and non-musical influences on the band
-how new and different flavours of music influence the band, be it shoegaze or other flavours

-how incredible and worthwhile it is to do unique collaborations with friends
-the power of shoegaze and noise-rock
-creative approaches when working with The Body and how these experiences give technique, insight and wisdom
-Dylan's noise input to live gigs
-the upcoming tour with Thou in Australia and how an improv show looks to be a huge highlight
-future plans for the band
-simply enjoying the moment and the ride/dad life
and much more

ENJOY

(PLEASE NOTE DYLAN'S BANDWIDTH CAUSES SOME VIDEO GLITCHING FROM HIS END TOWARDS THE SECOND HALF, BUT LUCKILY THE AUDIO IS STILL SPOT ON, IT'S A LONG AND SOLID INTERVIEW I IMPLORE YOU TO WATCH/LISTEN IF EXTREME MUSIC AND CREATIVE INSIGHT ARE OF INTEREST TO YOU(IF THEY AIN'T WHY ARE YOU EVEN READING THIS..LOL)
