Thou interview with Bryan-killer chat about all things Thou, DIY, Punk and much more!. By Mark Jenkins. Just when you thought you couldn't get more inspired and fired up about the epic Full of Hell/Thou tour in August, I had the pleasure of chatting to Bryan of Thou, without a doubt one of the best-mixed genre/extreme-focused bands currently in existence.  This is up there with some of my favourite interviews, I love a chat that goes tangential in the best way. Bryan is a genuine, straight forward and honest human who is informative and utterly inspiring. We chatted about many things: -how the killer new album,Umbilical came about, its focus and aims -does this album diss itself? -the freedom of doing what you want -the glorious foundation of DIY Punk -the difference between the new album and previous releases -finally making it to Australia with Full Of Hell and their shared respect for each other -Bryan's record shop -lyrical and conceptual themes -the brilliant flow of th...

Religious Observance interview with the legend that is: Wayne. DHZ: First before I cross-examine you, can you give me the history of the glorious Melbourne institution known as RO and introduce yourself and any absentee band members not present: WAYNE: Religious Observance started in 2015 when Ben from sludge band She Beast suggested having a jam with noise band Colostomy Baguette? - we were super happy with the results and this Religious Observance was born. In 2017 our original bass player Sarena (Acid Witch) decided to leave the band, and we brought in Campbell (The Void) on bass and vocals as well as Ringo (Filth Bucket) as second guitarist. Then in 2019, our original drummer decided to leave the band, and we brought in Andrea (Lucy Für).  Fast forward to 2021 and our noisemsith John (X) decided to leave the band. After a few jams and unsuccessful attempts at getting another noise person, Campbell (who had previously made noise in other bands) switched to noise. We bro...

Lucas Stone-Deathbed EP. A wicked mix of dark, melodic post hardcore/metal.

Lucas Stone-Deathbed EP. A wicked mix of dark, melodic post-hardcore/metal. This one was a pleasant surprise to come across. Lucas Stone has been making solid and varied music for ages, and this release has some of his best work is contained here in his solo guise. Here's the presser to chomp on: Currently holding down dual roles as vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for Gold Coast rockers HAMMERS and drum duties for blues funk trio Hot Cobra, Stone's work as a solo artist brings a venomous and dexterous twist to his creative repertoire, lined with sharp post metal and blackened alternative rock. And today, Stone combines 35 years spent writing and creating music into a brand new solo and completely independent EP: DEATHBED. Raw, caustic and welding Stone's love for authentic emotion within heavy music with malevolent riff violence, DEATHBED is simultaneously cohesive and yet stylistically indefinable; a true representation of who Stone is, his passion for the heavy real...
